The new guidelines include positive mention of Mediterranean style diets and coffee consumption, both of which may decrease risk of some neurodegenerative illnesses. The pork lobby seems to have won the committee fight over discouraging consumption of bacon, a probable carcinogen (despite that wonderful flavor).
